Google Places is the Google-style review website where business owners can list their businesses for free and people can rate their experience with the business in any way they want. Google emphasizes the idea that raters are real users that have been previously checked to match a Gmail account from their database. So, it’s not easy to fake reviews. Of course, competition might sneak a bad review from time to time, but most reviews that I’ve read so far are appreciative or moderately appreciative. Google Places has incorporated an internal search engine for users to look for recommendations, usually in their area or in the area where they plan to travel.
